Tuesday 24th May 2011

New page - new lighting setup for the scene. I've been working on a bit of detail but most of the stuff I've focused on is using Mental Ray portal lighting and Final Gather to create a more convincing lighting setup. This works off colour temperature instead of just amending the light intensity and colour separately. This way if I fade up a light the light itself will go through the correct colour spectrum. I'm also using DGS on the wheels and other mia_material shaders on the car for bits like the diffuser and background infinity curve. I just need to create the new wheel, add some badges to the back, fix the centre seam and some other vertex normals along the length of the car to create a nice continuous reflection and work into the window edges a little more.


Wednesday 25th May 2011 - day off tomorrow to skydive woot!

Hope the dropzone is open for one ...and hope it doesn't lash down for two or I'll be quite chebbed off! Got the badge on the back of the car (not exactly difficult... duplicate the one on the front n tweak!) and also done the exhaust tips. Also merged up the middle of the car...


Friday 4th June 2011 - finally made the wheel...

Managed to get the alloy wheel modelled up today. Wasn't too difficult to model but looks pretty good overall especially on the car...


Tuesday 15th June 2011 - Nissans definition of cruelity to 3d modelling.. the headlight!

Finally got around to finishing the headlight! Utter pain in the backside... never want to see it again! What were Nissan thinking making that darn thing? It cant be cheap to manufacture! Next up is the side mirrors, then the window trims, wipers and scuttle panel (bit that wipers usually sit on!)

Another pain the backside to model but just about got it done.
