R33GTR - high res model - PAGE 1
Heres a breakdown of the stuff I'd like to do with this project...
my first picture. nowt special - just getting the basics of the vehicle up an running here. the overall shape is quite accurate tho I think

been working on it a bit more today... got more of the body done and a basic wheel setup for it...

more bodywork improvements - trying it out smoothed now too. Imported some parts from my old R34 model - nothing major - just bits like the GTR badge which haven't changed over the years so I thought I'd use that. Did have to adjust some shaders on them though.

I imported an old alloy wheel which I was gonna use on my R34 years ago but decided on the multi-spoke ones for it instead. I think they look rather smart on this R33 though so I'm gonna run with them :) Also imported the grid meshes as they seem to work well - had to tweak them a bit though and adjust the shaders again...

Started working on the rear lights - they are really not an easy shape to make but I think I'm on the right track to start with here...
Here's a close up of the light cluster ...the red light bit is made of a few pieces of geometry with refractive outer pieces. This is slightly blurred too to give a frosted effect on the inside detail of the light. I may yet swap them for LED lights too inside as I quite like them.

added a basic carpaint - I'm not sold on the colour for the moment but we'll see what happens.

here's another shot from the back.... adjusting specularity of the paintwork to see how it looks

working on the rear lights some more. These really are a right pain in the neck but I think they're really coming on here... The GTR badge works well too and the vspec badge will be changed slightly too to look a bit better.

and here's the front again... got the smaller foglights into the scene now

trying out colours ..quite like white but just doesn't look convincing imo... blue is too bright and similar to my old R34. I think I'll try midnight purple...

so here's the back again - got to work on the rear indicators and the skyline badge along with the rear brake light on the spoiler. Also been working on the edges and making them sharper to separate the light clusters from the bodywork :)

I've since found out a small detail - the rear section where the "skyline" word sits is meant to match the paintwork - as opposed to the pic above where it emulates the look of the indicators so I fixed this...

and the reason for that is they contain a dozen bits that slot together but I think I'm well into it here - the shaders need work and the bodywork needs adjusting a bit (feels a bit too much like a mitsubishi at the front at the moment...

got the bumpmap on the headlight. Did the foglight shader and some more details down there like the intercooler behind the grill and the notches in the grill maw either side of the badge. Quite chuffed with this render

basic interior is now visible. My last car model didn't have this so I think this really helps. paintwork is coming on nicely too I think

I think the visible gauges are quite cool inside the window (need to swap sides tho doh! Also got the exhaust in too.

NOW we're talking - midnight purple baby yeah!!! This looks damn tasty if I do say so myself.

Also adjusted the front lights - they now include a sidelight in there which is again slightly blurred out. I've also adjusted the bonnet to get it to slant more and other nips n tucks too!

So this is the shot I did with my R34 ages ago.. I just imported the R33 as it stands and hit render ..I think its come out nice tho there's still some work to do! :D

ok so I pilfered the wipers from my old R34 but I really didn't want to model them again and they look nice on there imo!

and I've finally gotten around to modelling the bit I really weren't looking forward to - that dreaded door handle - it took a bit of work but I think its quite clean and really sets the door off. Also added the fuel cap too tho this was a bit of a hack tbh...

here's another shot CU ...got the sidemirror modelled up properly now too.

CU of badges and indicator

not much more - just thought I'd add some wireframes to show the difference in the first pic n last pic!

...And this is where it stands at the moment - Now I have a home laptop I can work on extra details and get a turntable out - I think I'll do a 2nd page for all that tho as this one is image-heavy enough lol!!...
